Things can go wrong.
So there I was cruising around the rock belt looking after miners. Out on a hunting trip in a wing of Fellow Knights looking to make some credits from the dregs of space that prey on the innocent and week. I’m in a good wing of three but it’s getting intense as we seem to have stumbled into a nest of pirates. Now the problems start kicking in. First one loses his shields and has to bug out to recharge, then another gets tangled up with a wing of small ships and down go his shields and 20% of his hull. So I’m thinking I’m in good shape! 100% on shield and hull I can take them on.
Quick check on the scanner to see who has the biggest bounty, Wow a Python of high status and he’s worth 75000credits locked on and go to swing the ship round ---- Nothing happens? I can move up and down but have lost the roll function on the ship! Quick check round my system modules, all powered up should be fine, try again and nothing happening. Then realisation that I’m in a combat zone with a sick ship, quickly using yaw and firing individual thrusters I managed to get it pointing away from the mass of rocks, I hit super cruise and boost as fast as possible. Just then I noticed the blue splats on the shield indicator yep they have me in weapons lock. I could only fly in a straight line so made an easy target, thankfully I have my shield cell banks as back up, finally after what seems like a lifetime I jumped out with one ring left on my shields. But now comes problem number two! How to get back to the station with no control.
Floating in space I remembered from my early days working on old dilapidated ships, it is possible to work this using my keypad, its clumsy and rough but should get me home. So now with wires strung all over the bridge and held in place with bits of chewing gum off I go. It all comes back to me eventually and under a lurching control make it back to the nearest station (thank heavens the docking computer was still ok) Now I have to call out the maintenance crew and it turnout the control system I had fitted 4 months ago has fried itself, another call to the manufacture Saitek and they say it will take a few days to get the parts out to me. Hell I need the credits, but I also need a break so nothing for it but to hit the bars and try to keep out of trouble (no chance I know)

In the repair shop, if you see me in a bar buy me a beer, just don’t mention insects and aliens.
